What is a Notary Public?

Texas notaries public are governed by Chapter 406 of the Government Code, Chapter 121 of the Civil Practice and Remedies Code and the secretary of state’s administrative rules found in 1 Texas Administrative Code Chapter 87, as well as any other applicable state or federal law.

Notaries are not attorneys licensed to practice law in Texas and may not vie legal advice or accept fees for legal advice.

What is a Notary Signing Agent?

The National Notary Association defines a Notary Signing Agent or NSA as:

[A] Notary who has special training to handle loan document signings. Title companies and signing services hire NSAs to deliver loan documents to borrowers, oversee the signing and return the documents.
